  2. Hello Sir,

    My name is Abhishek Sharma.

I had previously sent you emails regarding the same matter, I don’t know if you have received them.

In order to compliment my story I have come up with a new way to introduce interactivity in movies. Previously it was not possible to introduce any kind interactivity between the viewer and the movie in real-time. For example in a video game we have the concept of choice wherein a gamer can take different paths to complete a particular objective or the choice he takes at a given point in the game can lead to an alternate ending. Now we have to understand that all these choices are already scripted and coded in the game by the programmer and so all we are creating is an illusion of a choice. That means that if you choose the path “A” then it would lead to an ending “A”. and if you choose the path “B” it would lead to the ending “B” and so on an so forth. So it means that the story and the sequences are already created but we introduce the concept of choice to create a new experience for the gamer so that a gamer can get immersed in the experience and come back again to play that same game but this time choose the alternate path.

I have come up with a way to introduce this same experience in movies and that too in real-time. With the advent of multiplexes and digital cinema it is possible to introduce the concept of “choice” in cinema.

I have researched a lot about this and haven’t found a single instance where this kind of a thing was ever used in the field of cinema, so I have sent for an individual patent for this technique as it is fairly new and never been explored in this manner. I have also written a story which can showcase the technique in real-time. I had already sent you the story previously. I don’t know if you have gone thru my previous email.

I am sorry I cant divulge much information about this in this email but if you are interested in this or need further clarification then please let me know if we can arrange a meeting where I can elaborate on the technique and its benefits.

You can contact me on email and I would discuss this further

Trust me when I say that this is something new and exciting and can change the way movies are made in future and the reason I am contacting you is because right now I am just a student of film-making so no one really is willing to try something new and innovative because I am not a famous person but I feel that you are an individual who can really support innovation so looking forward for atleast a discussion about the matter

Hope to hear from you soon regarding this.

    Thanks and Regards

    Abhishek Sharma

  3. actually people have already experimented with multiple endings in cinemas, and better not to send your story as there are too many copyright issues right now – though I do not believe in them , shekhar

  6. Sir,
This is Ankit Tiwari from Mumbai. I would like to ask you that how I can get in touch with you if I am having a suitable composition for your next project PAANI. I have already worked with Mr. Habib (as one of the Music Directors) with his recent released film DO DOONI CHAAR, casting Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Singh Kapoor the super hit duo of 70s & 80s, came back on silver screen after 30 years. And I would also like to share with you that the film is doing fairly good in terms of the work done by us and the story line. You can follow the link: – http://popcorn.oneindia.in/title/2674/do-dooni-chaar.html

I have composed some of the compositions as one of them is really close to the subject ‘PAANI’ & I would also like to share you that the lyrics are also matching with it. Why I am contacting you this way because after listening that track some of the good Bollywood singers & film makers suggest me, “ if possible I should contact you as you are a very good human being and you never compromise with the talent.”

Sir, I am 20 years old and I might be dreaming really big to work with such a great film maker but my talent and confidence & of course the composition also supporting me to do so. If you think that you can give me a chance or at least you can listen to the track, I would be the happiest person on the earth.

    If possible, please revert.

  19. Mr Kapoor,
You made a Bandit Queen and a Masoom, your range is diverse and eye sharp.
    Find your talent remarkable.
I think you should take a look at this.
Book in print, each chapter a cinematographers delight.
I doubt you will be dissapointed.
Can send you the first few chapters. If you are the one destined to direct it into a movie, you will ask for them.
I know you will write back.

This is what the writer says in his preface :

“On the banks of the Ganges, especially in the forests beyond the cities, fear is the instrument of feudal exploitation and it hovers like a curtain of mist overground. Fear is what they have preyed on, the zamindars. I have walked the banks of the Ganges and the forests that lie beyond its waters long enough, and have felt this mist upon me. If you are a predator, you will use it to your advantage, this fear. Everyone else, otherwise succumbs.
The book is the embodiment of this fear and people on both sides of it. We are now in a new century, decades away from Bihar’s feudal past and all its cruelty. That curtain, however, has not lifted. If anything, it lies thicker upon the ground.
The story is set in Bihar of 1948, a time of tremendous flux. An entire era of foreign domination was ending and a new promise of self rule had dawned. In the rapid change of guard, most old practices were under scrutiny and their beneficiaries were feeling sidelined, left out. Some institutions, however, were completely untouched by it all. Crime was one of them.
It took money, power and greed to commit crime in the British Raj. It took exactly that in the new dispensation. The stage had changed, the players hadn’t. The cruel and cunning Thakur,as you will see in the book, understood this timelessness of the continuum. And that’s what he capitalised upon.
The story is all fiction, and yet, it is not. ”

    Warmest regards

    Ruchira

  20. Dear Mr. Shekhar Kapoor,

This is somewhat funny, but I am looking for the name of a particular tv serial of yours telecast on DD long ago in which you played a “suave, successful businessman.” The source of this query is a bit unusual too:)

I belong to a social web site for internet entrepreneurs where we had a discussion about our inspirations. One member quipped that he was inspired by your role in that serial when he was in 6-7th standard and wanted to become like you! But he could not remember the name of the serial. We had a long discussion about it; whether it was Udan or Khandaan but could not arrive at any conclusion.

If possible, could you please help us with your serial’s name?

You can see his response at the link given below:

    Thanks, regards

  21. We have approached you to become members of Jury for ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) but no response. You being a Chartered Accountant we wish you be there as Jury. Other members of Jury are very very eminent personality like Adi Godrej etc. The meeting date is 7th January 2011 at South Mumbai. Pls respond to my mail or mobile no 9830022848

  22. Thanks for your reply, Mr. Kapoor. Yes, it might be Mahanagar.. I think it used to have a shot of high rise buildings of Mumbai in title song. maybe that’s why I thought it was Khandan. I don’t remember much of that serial but I’ll look it up on the net. Thanks so much! My friend will be thrilled!:)
    regards
    Jyoti

  23. Sorry, My apologies for miss-spelling your surname; I did not notice you spell it “Kapur” and not “Kapoor”. I apologize.

  24. It’s been a while you wrote on your blog. I am sure there are many more like me who log on to your blog everyday to read your thoughts….

  25. Hi Shekhar,

2 months of bouncing off numerous blogs/forums/tweets, finally got a straight answer right here. Thought I’d share my story with you.

I’m an indie filmmaker based out of Toronto and am faced with similar challenges as other aspiring filmmakers. Got an idea but what next? I recently finished my first full length feature with only a budget of $500. I had started the film with just 2 individuals on board – myself and a friend who owned the camera. We scouted for actors, crew and extras out of referrals and public forums. Sometimes spending days at end making calls in order to get some support and possibly some sponsorship. In the end it all turned out well. Though no one wrote us a cheque, but we did manage to get the necessary locations and equipment to complete the film without any investment. Our closing total was 84 people (cast, crew, extras). All volunteers.

And then I got hit by reality. I realized that a lot of scenes we shot were crafted out of bare minimum resources as we had to make due with no investment towards this project. I now know the importance of the $$$ and how a shortage of it limits your ability to express and exploit your vision to its full potential.

I wonder if this is where the journey ends. It is definitely a bitter sweet feeling. On one end, I have definitely reached a milestone. On the other I realize that I now have a greater obstacle to overcome once my next script is ready. who? how?

I’m optimistic. It all begins when you start believing, doesn’t it Shekhar? 🙂 Call me crazy. . . but I sure do hope we cross each others path in the industry some day.

Meanwhile, I will take this advise for now and will continue with my baby steps.

In fact I forced my Mom to take out the old jacket of my Dad and used to wear that, even though it was way too big for my size then, so that I can just be like you 🙂

Jyoti asked me to put this question regarding the serial to you, but I was kinda shy.

Thanks so much for putting out the name of the serial.

  37. Dear Shekher Sir,

To unquote what you said on corruption has a mass appeal as well as attracted the attention of the enlightened citizens of the country to debate on corruption. To corroborate the fact, it is admitted that corruption in India is a consequence of the nexus between bureaucracy, politics and criminals. At one time, bribe was paid for getting wrong things done but now bribe is paid for getting right things done at right time. Bribery to politicians buys influence, and bribery by politicians buys votes. In order to get elected, politicians bribe poor illiterate people, who are slogging for two times meal in a day. Thus it has become a national malady with dip rooted repercussions. Now it is the time for introspection to combat corruption at all possible level with the consensus of the people.

Hope your words will reach those who are into the nexus and dissuade them to desist from corrupt practices with a due respect to our National Anthem.

    Thanks & Regards,
