The Question was Elizabeth A Virgin?
Or was Elizabeth “the illegitimate heretical whore” that is a great question. Her reign as Queen will always be remembered and not because she lived until nearly 100 but she walked in the ranks of males. Took her fathers position with great honor after suppression and illegitimacy and was named the Virgin Queen, unmarried. However, was she really alone or did she have her loves ripped away and womanhood censored.
Shekhar Kapur creates Cate Blanchett into this mythological Queen whom suitors loved but could not possess. After watching this rendition we know Elizabeth was loathed, loved and protected becoming the heir to the throne while advised to dissipate men immediately regardless of their love for her. Her power and ruling could not allow her to submit to emotion.
Kapur dresses her beautifully garnishes her hair sometimes draping down her back and then cutting it for a symbolic transfigure while slaughtering men literally, figuratively and metaphorically. A grand interpretation as men pray to touch the divine and Elizabeth becomes greater than Jesus. A wonderful, skin crawling interpretation that will chill a woman and thrill any man out of his penile erection as we witness the essence of Elizabeths beauty and enigma.
This movie is an amazing mythological depiction to watch Elizabeth submit to male energy and rule while remaining a virgin? One thing for sure it is film at its best. We travel into the Elizabethan Era and witness a queen who impacts us today and we wonder was Elizabeth a virgin or just a whore that ruled?

The posting poses the question, “The Question was Elizabeth A Virgin?”
I have seen the Golden Age only. This question did not cross my mind. I mean, what does it matter? Elizabeth was a spinster who could not find a compatible male to marry. It happens.
As the posting mentions, “One thing for sure it is film at its best.”.
The old thinking was that the man should be more successful than his wife. Fortunately, today it is acceptable, thanks to films like Mr. Mom, that the woman can be more succesful in career than her husband.
Yang (Male) on further evolution becomes more like Ying (Female) and vice versa.
It gives one reason why Elizabeth could rule like men.
In the same line of argument she could also sleep with many men (as men often sleep with many women, actually up to a certain evolutionary phase – before they become spiritual, the more they are evolved the more women they sleep with).
As to did she become a whore then, yes if man becomes a male-whore, no if he does not.
“Was Elizabeth a Virgin ?”…….. Guest column by Sugabone
“……we wonder was Elizabeth a virgin or just a whore that ruled?…..”
My comment is directed to sugabone..whoever he/she is….
A woman who rules like no one did in the history…make british empire rock solid at the time….her reign was calle the “Golden Age”……Who buried her feminine emotions to be faithful to the throne …..as she declares “I am married to Engalnd”…and yes, she did …she was loyal to her land…
DOES IT EVEN MATTER IF SHE WAS VIRGIN OR NOT MR/MS.SUGABONE??????
WHY WOULD IT MATTER IF THIS WOMAN HAD SEX IN HER LIFETIME OR NOT?????
Its pathetic that , still we discuss about woman’s virginity over her calibre and sacrifice????
Sugabone,,,,,,you also commented that “……we wonder was Elizabeth a virgin or just a whore that ruled?…..”
If there was a king who did or did not rule that brilliantly and had slept with many women , what would you call him???? “He-WHORE”…? (and most of the kings in the history are these he-whores if the same principle applied to them.)
Frankly, its very insulting comment….
I dont know where you are from….but I am not white british person…
I am indian girl living in Uk.I have watched Golden Age and had read about Elizabeth….I have deep respect for best ruler of the empire ( well, somehow both happend to be females) Elizabeth and queen Victoria….
You should rather ask any female how difficult is for them to separate emotions from their being? To be frank its like asking man to forget about his manhood……
SO, PEOPLE WHO ARE FEELING INSECURE IN THEMSELVES ASK THE QUESTIONS LIKE “WAS THAT A WHORE WHO RULED?”…
NO , THAT WAS A WOMAN WHO RULED….AND SHE DID RULE DAMN WELL…..
THANKS

UR right K it really does not matter whether she was a whore or a virgin so why create an image of this Queen and bind her in such a thought for a countries image perhaps? Im sure she could have loved and wanted to love and that is exactly what I saw in this movie depiction thus the reason why I made the comment. She was human a woman that was real although able to rule ferociously. How great with such an oppressive livelihood. It is not me to blame for the oppression of women or this woman it is the societal norms in these countries. Free the Women! Elizabeth Reigns and so does female oppression! I recently watched Marie Antoinette again the same form of oppression but from the impotency of man. Maybe women are the stronger vessel.
Madonna is certainly the most important pop artist in the USA nowadays. The music to its best…
why does a woman always have to be either a whore or a virgin?
is the principal of Consciousness is wrong or right . a Consciousness is given in some one and the Consciousness is make to do wrong things . like this Consciousness and souls are being now and in the past would had been used . thus the spoiled the lifes of many many souls and humans .
very few peoples who would be knowing the seacrets of souls and Consciousness . instead of stoping the misuse of wrong things what were happening in past .
wrong traditons and wrong principals of ancient times .
Ok so I am probably a beat behind here. I realise that.
But my question or comment is really for Mr. Kapur. A while back there were rumours that you were going to make a third Elizabeth movie, again with Blanchett as the Queen. Please tell me this true! There has to be a third movie.
Thank you
