First a very happy Diwali to everyone, and I thought that we should remind ourselves of why there is a tradition to gamble over this festive and religious season. It is so that we all understand the nature of wealth, the nature of the Goddess Laxmi, who cannot be owned/procured for ones own greed. Wealth has it’s own free will and will come and go beyond your own ability to control it. Like the Goddess, you may worship her, but you can never possess her !
So in the time of the Global financial crisis, it is good to think about the nature of wealth. Happy Diwali !
Sir,
Let MahaLakshmi with her white owl, descend to earth tonight and take away the darkness of poverty, stagnation, anger, and laziness from our lives.
Vinod Agarwal – Happy Diwali Samvat 2065
Thanks for this, Shekhar. Heading to a Diwali card party for the first time this evening. Happy Diwali!
Happy Diwali,
Only thing I remember during Diwali is lots of Diyas and sweets. those memories with family members keeps my heart warm .
Hey Shekharji,
You put it very smartly…you can worship it but cannot possess it! Yet, people are just doing exactly in stock market, the governments are hiding the facts…
I wish to know from people who are good at finance management of economy…Does the current rate of inflation in double digits is fact or it is even more but the government is hiding from people?
Secondly, I just saw Obama – likely to be president of US…weather after march 29 things will be normal? I dont know why but if American markets are OK then world markets will be Ok too?
Lastly, where is the money going actually? somebody must have it isnt it?
Interesting and true regarding worshipping Goddess Laxmi.
Happy Diwali back to you Shekhar and to all the rest here.
Harb
Hi ,
Wishing you and your family a happy Diwali .
Yes one can worship but never possess.. 🙂
Financial turmoil is like a passing thing .. it would get fine… Money comes and goes i only wish that not all would be greedy and fight for that !
Peaceful and Happy Diwali Shekhar and everyone here.
Blessings be…
It is a time of reflection, celebration, sharing and love, we are fortunate.
Our son, Aaravinda 8, was given a gift today…but before he was to open it, I told him there was something he needs to remember…”always to celebrate Diwali (what it stands for), no matter who he marries…
because if we forget our roots, eventually the tree will rotten and die…
Om Shanti shanti shanti
Cinda
Aha! That is an interesting perspective. Now I know why I never have any money..I am hopeless at gambling :).
But what you say is true, I realise more and more as time passes that you cannot possess anything in this world. If you think you possess it, it is your illusion. My friend and I were discussing the economy yesterday and we realise how the whole thing is nothing but a grand house of cards. We keep feeding one thing with another. Consumerism causes economic prosperity and economic prosperity leads to consumerism. And it becomes bigger and bigger and bigger and we completely lose sight of the ground (which is our basic needs).. and then… crash!
So you are absolutely right. The secret of feeling secure in this chaos is realising that you don’t have anything valuable to lose.
Que Sera Sera!
Happy Diwali everybody.
HAppy Happy Diwali sir

Dear Shekhar,
A very happy Diwali to you as well and hope you have a wonderful day. Goddess Lakshmi gets pleased whenever she wishes so it is a great day to reflect on what we have rather than what we don’t. May the next year be fulfilling and prosperous for all.
Best Regards,
Himanshu
