yelling

i ran from the noise
looking for silence
and in my solitude
i heard a single scream
that came from
inside my head
i was the one
yelling
the loudest
trying to be heard
above everyone else
like a child
screaming for attention
in a world
where a billion voices
were doing the same

  1. Dear Shekhar,
All voices are equally important and have a place in the grand scheme of things.Don’t get entrapped into the quagmire of comparing them.
Yours just seems loudest to you because its closest to your ears.
Worry not,the color ‘yellow’ has its own importance. The rainbow will be recognizably less without it.
Me-thinks the universe and the world needs it.

  2. And most importantly India needs you Shekhar, believe you me.
Sorry, I’m a bit drunk at one of my cousin’s wedding at the border district of Muktsar, incidently also my birthplace.
Here in my maternal Haveli its my maami’s daughter’s marriage and this occured to me while just dancing with myriads of my maamas and maamis and cousin sisters and brothers and especially doing those customary rounds with the closest- parents and children.
Heck I thought how didn’t I mention India.
Shekhar You are one of the pearls of our eyes Your voice shouldn’t just be loudest but the weightiest too. You’ve got a billion cheering for you here.
Off I go to the open dance floor as being pulled off by one of my cousins amidst those Ashokas, Kinnow orchards and Tahlis just adjacent to my maamaji’s cow/buffalo shed. The song goes”Na wishkey naa soote.. par laide swarg de hoote…”(No whisky and no cigrets … but we enjoy the swings of heaven here…).Although Shekhar between you and me we just downed a few blenders prides here.HaHaHa
    B’bye…

  3. We all seek places of our own to gain our balance back, to hide from the inner screaming, to regain composure and to anchor ourselves. What I have learnt for myself is when the inner screaming comes to a point of being unheard by me, I must stop myself in my stride, reassess, re-evaluate, re program, and then move onwards. The aim is to find inner peace. The goal is know where the path leads. When done with equanimity the screaming gives ways to oneness and harmony.

  4. and when the mind is quiet
enough for you to look within
    the place in your heart
    that needs no attention because
    it is nothing but attention

  5. the tides recede
    the thunders calm
    the winds go still
    in the symphony of silence
    and the crescendo of stillness
    rising above discordant notes
emerge united colors of the rainbow
    and gentle rhythms of harmony

You have drawn a real picture of the goings on…I can play witness. Though you know I was not sitting exactly in the witness box lol. As they say in Punjabi I too “fufra fufra kara ti” or no?
    Harb

  7. i don’t find you yelling but singing… and as you sing it brings realisations and revelations.. to hold yourself together and to write about what you go through or what you think is an art.. and i know you have mastered it.. keep singing Sir..
