water or stone ?

embrace your weakness
with humility
and flow
like water
not like stone
or a rock
that stands
in the false firmness
of it’s resolve
and ego

    Shekarji,
Or know that a stone or a rock is nothing but firm water
    and
water is nothing but free flowing stone or rock..
Don’t know if that makes sense..going back to awareness theory again…

    Dear Shekhar,
It is true that we need to be like water, embrace our weeknesses, and be flexible at all times. But the rock doesn’t just represent ego it also represents boldness and courage. There is a saying “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Infact we need to be like a rock or like water based on the times – if we are in a state of crisis e.g. a general who has to lead an army, or just a head of household pulling through his/her family in tough times he/she needs to be like a rock with the confidence that I can do it, in times of ease we should be like water – flexible and just soaking up the diversity of the world, treading along patiently and calmly towards our chosen destinations letting things happen at their own pace.
    Best Regards,
    Himanshu

by Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi – Moving Water
When you do things from your soul, you feel a river
    moving in you, a joy.
When actions come from another section, the feeling
    disappears.
Don’t let others lead you. They may be blind or, worse, vultures.
Reach for the rope of God. And what is that? Putting aside self-will.
Because of willfulness people sit in jail, the trapped bird’s wings are tied,
    fish sizzle in the skillet.
The anger of police is willfulness. You’ve seen a magistrate
    inflict visible punishment.
Now see the invisible. If you could leave your selfishness, you
would see how you’ve been torturing your soul. We are born and live inside black water in a well.
How could we know what an open field of sunlight is?
Don’t insist on going where you think you want to go. Ask the way to the spring. Your living pieces will form a harmony.
There is a moving palace that floats in the air with balconies and clear water flowing through, infinity everywhere, yet contained under a single tent.

    My Dear Shekhar Kapur,
I am fan of you since I was kid.
I want to know about your present.
Really out of touch so dont know what you are doing now.
Can you share with me, your thoughts & your present how is going.
    Miss you with true heart.

    saviii

  24. Sreesha says:

    Dear Shekhar,
I think the topic is already digressed :-), but let me add my few cents too πŸ™‚
We are essentially talking of Humility here, Water and Rock are only allegories.
To be humble, the first thing thats important is to become aware that we have ego in us. Without this, the transformation never begins. Once this awareness seeps in, then comes the attitude to accept it. With these two, humility automatically dawns, there is no need for any extra effort.
BTW, the very manifestation, the very existence, the very living, the very breath, the very moment thrives in ego. Ego is warped in the existence with reality. If Ego is dropped, its sheer emptiness, sheer isness, just the infinitesss of the being. With Ego dropped, there is no mind and no soul. Infact a no nothing. A deep abyss of timelessness.

Want you to help me to recall your that times performances as an actor.
Would you like to swim for a little moment in the memorries of your that time which I want to recall, ofcourse without forgetting the edges of the memorries. edges are your present & past, future is flowing ahead you need to keep on swiming, dreaming, checking the edges i.e. past & present. future will come automatically in your present then past.
Not sure that I have reached to you the way I wanted, anyway I have tried from the bottom of my heart.

I dont care, who loves me or not, but I want to say I love you secretly in my heart since I was kid, its not that love like male female love its soul’s love, love from one soul to another soul.
I am choosy about my everything, I am very difficult person.
My soul is attracted towards you, just some period of time I was occupied with something, now I am free, so want to do that things which I wanted to do far before.
Living in one moment so many moments.

    Oh God!
I missed the net and your blog…am backkkkkkkkk
this is very nice post Shekharji…
What a way that you used the flow of water…
may be…sometimes ego comes in between and maketh a man like stone…temperory making a man blind…so the religious person may say its all maya…and an non-religious person may say its your wrong doing…
its also a great impediment…a weed…that grows and halts the growth of real seed of a man or women…
I also strongly feel that, even before ego preceeds a man, there is a knock at soul’s door…one’s inner voice that tries to say something that’s like hey…what you’re about to do is right/wrong but in that spur of moment, people forget to listen to that inner call and go ahead with other flow of life often resulting in experiences, situations, events that they’re not comfortable in and then blame other facts beyond their control.
What an easy thing it would be if we listen to soul’s knock…a tuning…a relationship , say a pure relationship with one’s own inner voice, am sure there might be temperory defeats but the big picture will definitly be serene.
Shekharji, if you can throw some light on this topic, it would add to many people’s thinking about inner voice. will you please?

  30. There’s a beautiful poem by Marathi Saint poet Tukaram. It often gives me strength and wisdom when I’m about to react and get into a fight.Beautifully translated by Dilip Chitre.here it is:
If one stand up to argue or fight,
    you get into a mess
Reeds don’t need to exert any force of their own
They accept the force of water
If one tries to be tough, one meets one’s match
The humble stay out of trouble
    Says Tuka,
    Blend with all
    You’ll join a global family

And that can be done only by very brillient film maker like you. For this purpose I am lookng for someone who either can sponsor or envolve directly in this porject. Hope, if you allow me to narrate the idea, you will love doing it.

    Shekhar –
A question: recently when some scientists bombarded protons together to re-create Big Bang, people had issues that the world will come to an end and all existence will cease. If nothing would remain then why worry in the first place?
If the solar system, all humans, animals, material, non -material things, emotional stuff all would go then why bother at all? Wont it be the most painless end to existence?

What a lot of the commenters did not realise was that water or rock – all are examples of how we, the human beings should be!

All part of this earth, we are the essence of water. But hard like stone in our resolve?
    Breathe
    I have breathed another day
I have seized along the way

And fell beneath a tender fray
Of sitting ‘mong the course’st grey
And here I am to hope and pray
Alone and lonely but touch’d I’ll say
To hear your song and long to stay
Beside that bed of where I lay
You’ll hold my hand to let it may
And there I’ll breathe another day

  45. rithwick says:

    Respected Sir,
with due respect to your feelings ,i would state that life is like a river & rock is like binding force it’s not a jettisoned commodity.
    Life is
celestial, incessant, invigorating& free flowing like water as aptly stated in these quatret by Late Shri Harbans rai bachchan from his famous poem “agnipath”,”tu na rokega kabhi,tu na thakhega kabhi,tu na mudega kabhi kar shapath”,Rock is craggy and ardous so they are the untold hardships &unkemp precarie.
Swami Vivekanand always stated harmony, magnanomity& ethos are the gretest strength of the human race thus one should never inflict one’s recepticle on other instead should give importance to other’s feeling ,should accept everything with utmost humbleness.
He retariated that life is like a river which flows through various transit points is never marred by predicaments and impedements followed in form of rocks or pricepice.
Swami ramkrisna also said “life is like the ganges it shortens & widens at many places but never stops flowing, precipice come by way to alarm that the sojourn is not simple they play a pivotal role in deciding the fate of the river but this is the sheer graetnees of the holy ganga that it embibes the rock with sheer humbleness & also continues with it’s vigority”.
Sir life is also like the ganges and rocks like the alarming signals without whichlife would cease its importance.
Quite congruently water is important as muchas the rocks.

  46. the ''rock'' says:

who decides whether it is the strength of the rock or ‘rigidity’ ? its a matter of perception once again……..is’nt it ? if we understand the others perspective then it is strength……..if not, then ofcoarse……….simpler to slot it as ‘rigidity’

  47. vinay says:

    Overcome your weakness
    with guts
    and flow
    like water
not just like passing from the stone
    but like hard hitting wave
by which you can make flow
    the stone
    that stands
    in the false firmness
    of it’s resolve
    and ego
    to the shore.
