consciousness

is there a slipstream
of consciousness
that i can tap into ?
buffeted by currents
so strong
that i completely lose
a sense of myself
in a rush
towards such infinite speeds
that finally there is nothing
but stillness

  1. I am amused by the cookie-
holy as it seemed, taking a dip in the milk jar,
of what sins might it be absolved,
    of what karma-i cannot recall.

  2. if you hold on to that stillness you cant miss the moment of peace that follows……hold on a bit longer……you’re right there ! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. A beautiful quote on stillness of mind:
A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part.

  4. Another one, this one is really amazing.
The mind exists in a state of “not enough” and so is always greedy for more. When you are identified with mind, you get bored and restless very easily. Boredom means the mind is hungry for more stimulus, more food for thought, and its hunger is not being satisfied.
When you feel bored, you can satisfy the mind’s hunger by picking up a magazine, making a phone call, switching on the TV, surfing the web, going shopping, or — and this is not uncommon — transferring the mental sense of lack and its need for more to the body and satisfy it briefly by ingesting more food.
Or you can stay bored and restless and observe what it feels like to be bored and restless. As you bring awareness to the feeling, there is suddenly some space and stillness around it, as it were. A little at first, but as the sense of inner space grows, the feeling of boredom will begin to diminish in intensity and significance. So even boredom can teach you who you are and who you are not.
You discover that a “bored person” is not who you are. Boredom is simply a conditioned energy movement within you. Neither are you an angry, sad, or fearful person. Boredom, anger, sadness, or fear are not “yours,” not personal. They are conditions of the human mind. They come and go.
Nothing that comes and goes is you.
“I am bored.” Who knows this?
“I am angry, sad, afraid.” Who knows this?
You are the knowing, not the condition that is known.

  5. Untitled: 1993.
Through the darkness there remains a light–
Soft and luminous–calling forth the strength
and power we have long sought.
I close my eyes to see the violet light of the Muse
Telling me of things I have always known
    and have formerly doubted.
Now is the time to know incandescence–
To touch the wind and to revel in a change of seasons.
I look to the future with awaiting breath and
    clear eyes
To know the meaning of destiny.

  6. I do feel this stillness lately….
    Wonder why…
    wonder why…
    I should be restless….but enclosed like a pearl in a shell…tossed in the sea….
    And nothing…nothing…but stillness…
    wonder why…
    wonder why…
    Take care Shekhar….

  7. Shouldn’t a conscious stillness be the brainchild of a mind, without thoughts of any kind?
So, if we’re trying to create that frame, the mind should stop thinking that very same thought of killing the thought-process!
    *stillness*

  8. Maybe that’s what many try to achieve through the slipstream of conscious prayer or discipline. I believe there is. But each one has his own.

  9. I believe there is, that’s what many try to achieve through the slipstream of conscious prayer or discipline. But each one has to find his own.

  10. I feel there isn’t a slip stream of consciousness which we can tap in to .Other than our troublesome inward journey ;i think there is n’t a natural stream of consciousness hiding somewhere provided to us by any gurus or by Lord himself.(If i gotch u correctly)But Every stream we bathe in will help us through that journey.
I think consciousness is more like —;Allowing the cyclone of life take you with it,let it twist you turn you, stir you.Allow it to do it with out resisiting. If you resist you will be always in that twists n turns ;as u will not be able to defeat the mighty cyclone .But with out resisting if you feel the cyclone ,finally u will reach the epicentre of cyclone where nothing moves…….stillness…..twist n trns are all on the outside.
This was all abt wat i think abt consciousness
But I loved your poem for the very humane way of it……..hoping for a slip stream and the way the cuurent’s power makes u unselfconscious and makes u reach consciousness.Every man looking for consciousness dreams of such a stream.Very dreamy.

  11. A godly delight,
    An eternal delight,
    An inextinguishable delight,
A delight that forges day and night,
    glitters the stars,
puts waves of breaths into my being,
    puts beauty into my eyes,
    pleasure in my palate,
in every inch of my self,
words that spring forth from my mouth,
actions that happen from my limbs,
    are scatterings of that delight.
and yet when in times past,
    i inquired, probed, doubted,
    (and still do sometimes),
all was to meet this delight,
    to unmask it,
to unite with it completely unfettered,
to unite with it so closely,
    that the bridge of senses,
    of limbs,
and the karma road on it,
was to disappear and merge into
    the eternal, infinite, incorruptible delight,
as it should have been since time immemorial,
but wasn’t until delight was masked by I.

  12. Consciousness is the one that identifies with the thought, emotion, body. Just as the sea may start to identify with the rising and falling waves on it’s surface, and totally forget itself in the process.
Mind is nothing but Consciousness identified and trapped in concepts, and when it recognises itself, it finds there was no limitation to begin with. Limitation itself was an illusion, just as appearance of snake in the rope.

    When time stops
    and the world fades away
    The senses collapse
and the ropes begin to fray
    The heat of knowing
    gradually growing
    burns through the bonds
    that lead me astray

    my departure was certain,
this life was just a show,
    with death behind the curtain.

  15. It was extremely interesting for me to read the blog. Thanks for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to this matter. I would like to read a bit more soon.

  16. Hi ,
I like this space. I my view, consciousness is about self-awareness. Knowing thyself and acting accordinlgy. Someone has written it well in this space, boredom, teaches who we are. That’s true and I have experienced it.

  17. It is my belief that the “slipstream of consciousness that I can tap into” is based upon the life and times of Jesus Christ, the man-God. Any thoughts?

  18. The longing for that elusive ‘stillness’ so beautifully expressed….. thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  19. Soul, I know you today,
    My whole being affirms this!
    The whole universe affirms this!

You are a rushing stream, infinite –
We seem to perceive the laws of the universe, but
My self is awareness, my source is you.
