Childhood lost

I read today that 1/5th of all British Women have been sexually abused as children. Of course it is nice to live in a society that care to look at these statistics. In India no one knows or cares, and since the largest percentage of sexual or other abuse happens at home, it is all hidden under the garb of family honour. The abuser normally is in an intimate relationship of trust with the child. Abused children sometimes will spend their lives coming to terms with a lost childhood. Shekhar

  1. And aproximately 3% of the total papulation, who own the media and most of the wealth..claims,that It is a one of the most booming economy of present time..what a joke. BOOMING for what…and for whome..Coke,pepsi and burger companies..Or BOOMING for those people who belong to that land, and still sleep on the street side in the night…and spend half the day in line for half a bucket of water.

  2. True Sanjay . I strongly agree with . We just want to show its all booming we are growing but what abt the roots..the basis . Still a long way to go.
As matter of fact we keep on say we are an IT Giant , we are the biggest growing economy . But what about these childrens ..who are still weeping the car glass a traffice signal . So many things are need to be changed. Lots of movies are shown on these subjects which are world wide accepted . These been appreciated but these is not going to change the future i belive. Still many steps to climb to secure the future we call

  3. Anyone who believes that sex is less sacred than ‘god’ is complicit in all sexual acts of humans that bring pain. I would imagine that includes the vast majority of people in the world.
Individuals who inflict sexual pain on others are payback to a system that engenders such behavior by subverting the sacredness and beauty of sex in everyday life.
Punishments to ‘deviant’ individuals will never solve the problem until society maintains its schizophrenia about sex.
Simple things such as if I want to walk outside naked, why should I be punished? Is the naked human body dangerous? Who/what is it dangerous to? Why can’t we have a world where if at times people want to be naked in public places it is not considered a crime? Clothes should be optional, and why not?
What kind of a world it is where it raises eyebrows all around if a couple were to kiss passionately in public but it hardly matters if people are violent or brash in public?
What is it about love and sex that is so criminal that it has to be kept under wraps most of the time and yet all kinds of negative human behaviour is out on full display in society without anyone considering it too abnormal?
Coming to terms with the truth about sex will solve all problems of the world. Problems are a result of lack of love. The best way to frustrate LOVE is to frustrate natural sexual instincts in a person which creates neuroses and fear by criminalizing natural pleasure. It is done subtly and not-so-subtly by religions and society to people right from the moment of their birth so as to make them less loving, less free, more dependent and more needy. Then society goes out to fix the problems that its very attitude has created. It remains mired in all this, perpetuates the same system in future generations, while constantly complaining about not attaining or understanding true fulfilment.
The sexual criminals, and indeed all criminals, are society’s creations. Without a complete overhaul of our thinking about sex and pleasure we cannot get a crime and problem free system. Anyone who believes that sex is less sacred than ‘god’ is complicit in all acts of humans that bring pain.

  4. I have survived many acts…
    I have died many deaths…
    I have hated many ‘me’s…
    I have forgiven many ‘thems’…
    was I a child in those years…
or am I growing into my own favourite child today?
    losing illusions of survival…
    learning to play alive…
    finding infinite love for me…
    I am healing…
    for the love of u…

  5. Thanks Shekhar,
As dark and excruciating abuse is as an experience, i have often wondered if it taught me to be aware of ghosts within… to be benevolent enough to forgive ‘their’ ghosts… to reach within and find my knots… to breathe into each hidden tear-duct till they opened… to realise freedom… to seek gratitude and abandon… to force my prison walls to collapse.
These thoughts may be controversial… maybe even wrong… but it helps me to believe that its purpose must have been served through me… or my purpose may have been served through the experience… whatever it was…whatever it may have been and whatever it is and will be… ‘whatever’… somehow doesn’t seem to be just an overused dismissive expression of the ‘yo!’ brigade anymore… ‘whatever’ is the vast mystery!;)
In spite of it…i am alive… to forgive another is not to say its ok… it is to say that I choose freedom.
    much love and smiles

  6. Anahata -Just read this post. You are not alone. countless like you and I are there. At least one has the guts to speak about it and confront and make changes to whatever capacity one can. It is for this reason, the good lord blessed me to work with offenders -domestic abusers, sexual predator, murderers who got away with lesser sentence and above all victims. while preparing for victim escape plan, just listening to them, to be there when they need gives a purpose to life. Write to me if you feel like it. Cheers -Vanmala Mukerji (chariji@gmail.com)
