Kill count

Terrorists killed more than 14,500 people in 11,000 attacks across the globe last year, the U.S. State Department said in its annual report on terrorism.
Wait a minute !

I have read some very reliable statistics that say that in Iraq alone 100,000 civilians have died.
So how does one define terrorism ? How do you describe the statistics of the Iraqi deaths of innocent men, women and children ? Casualties of War ?
What war ? Did the US ever declare War on Iraq ?
I would describe the civilian deaths in Iraq and in Afganistan as victims of terrorism. and if the deaths are sanctioned by a State, then we should call it Sate sponsored terrorism, right ?
And we should not differentiate between who that State is. Whether it is a Goverment in the Middle East or the US. Or India.

  1. unfortunately this issue has been crumpled up and tossed aside by many spectators. they do not want to quibble over the real amount of terrorist acts and its consequences, because they know and they fear the truth it hides. and so they will see it superficially; merely as a piece of old news and blurry facts that are a part of the past.
to quote stalin: the death of one is a tragedy, the death of a million is a statistic.
in this world statistics are numbers, nothing more. it’s sad but true.
but i’m glad that the victims are not forgotten by everybody – it brings a sense of relief. i admire you for pointing it out.

  2. “Casualties of War”…
There is nothing casual about being killed, is there?
Too often than not, we use so many words to justify and defend, degrade and crucify, however, in the act of doing, regardless of what is said “HERE ON EARTH” I know the TRUTH remains the same…no matter what we call it!
You are right Shekhar, we should not differentiate.
Thank you Shekhar for sharing your point of view.

  3. The dead civilians in Afghanistan are clearly victims of Al-Qaida.
How do you declare war on Al-Qaida? How do you kill terrorists that do not wear a uniform and organize in a battlefield? How do you kill an enemy that hides behind civilians and civilian targets?
The terrorists put the civilians in danger in the first place by merging between them and hiding between them. If they come out in the open, there would be no need for collateral damage.

  4. Dearest Shekahr Ji!
You being one of most sensitive filmaker , dont you feel about making a movie that will change the perspective of Amirican and english people about Bushiesm. The is mass genocide of humanity with cold blood and open eye. I wonder How do Mr. Bush might be thinking when he in bed alone or in loo.Defintly he might be speaking with self. what more he wish to achive through this mass distruction. what legacy he wish to leave behind. The jehide terrisiom is no doubt bad , but bushiesm is medival barbarick. what you have to say?
